Week 9 ACC/SEC Football Picks

ACC
Boston College at North Carolina
- BC's been playing good football lately. Not to mention their lone loss of the season being a 3-point deficit to Georgia Tech. Carolina stumbled last week against Virginia. I'm taking BC.

Wake Forest at Miami
- Just when we thought Wake would run away with the conference they go and get shut out at Maryland. That has me wondering what they're gonna do in Dolphin Stadium. Canes with the W.

Duke at Vanderbilt
- Ordinarily this would be the most non-important BCS game of the season. My how things have changed in one season! Duke's about to start the tough stretch of their schedule so a win here is crucial. However, Vandy should take care of business and FINALLY get 6 wins. Dores on Homecoming Day.

Virginia Tech at #25 Florida State
- Interesting match-up. I like what Bobby Bowden's quietly done this season, but I can't help but realize that this is Florida State that we're talking about. They've lost their 7th game of the season the past two years in games that were crucial to their bowl chances. So, as you can guess, I'm taking Beamer Ball on the road.

Virginia at #18 Georgia Tech
- The Jackets have the proverbial target on their backs. Virginia has hit stride recently winning three in a row (Maryland, East Carolina, and North Carolina). Granted, all three games were in Charlottesville. I'm taking the Jackets in a 10 point margin.

NC State at Maryland
- NC State hasn't been easy in conference play and this game should be no different. Is this the week that Mr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde shows up for the Terps? Who knows. Considering that I'm probably going to screw this pick up anyways, I'm taking the Fighting Friedgen's.

SEC
Auburn at West Virginia
- As Aubie Nation continues to cry I can't help but have little faith in Tommy Tuberville's bunch. Now they go to Morgantown. Morgantown, West Virginia. And while this isn't the same West Virginia team of years past, it's still a Pat White-led team. Word has it that he'll play tonight, anyways. Mountaineers at home.

Kentucky at #10 Florida
- I'm not sold on UK. As I've said before their 5 wins should not be considered quality wins. Given that, I don't think Tebow will let anyone else come into The Swamp and surprise the Gators anymore. Florida chomps.

#7 Georgia at #13 LSU
- Ah yes. Another behemoth grudge match of southern football titans. I mean, it sounded good, right? The Dawgs have taken care of business since losing to Alabama. With that in mind, LSU narrowly escaped at South Carolina last week. I'm going to take Georgia. Barely.

Ole Miss at Arkansas
- Alright the Nutt Bowl. Shameless, I know. I would expect mass amounts of hatred to be flying through Razorback Stadium on Saturday. It's Houston Nutt's first return to Fayetteville and, well, everyone hates Bobby Petrino. Hatred aside, I'm going with the Rebs on the road.

Middle Tennessee State at Mississippi State
- The annual mid-season non-conference game for the Croomettes (Yes I realize -ette is normally reserved for females). This year it's against the Sun Belt's very own Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. Who really cares about this game? I mean we will if MTSU wins. And it wouldn't surprise me considering they already beat Maryland this year and State has lost to Louisiana Tech. Let's hope the SEC prevails here. But then again, do we really hope Mississippi State wins?

#2 Alabama at Tennessee
- Admittedly, this is a big rivalry game. And it is in Neyland Stadium. Those factors alone lead me to believe that the Vols will make this a game. I'm taking the Tiders in a close one.
