Week 3 SEC Hoops Poll

The plan is, from here on out, that the Hoops Poll will be hosted between here and Garnet and Black Attack every other week. Here are the Week 4 results:

1. Kentucky (10 First Place Votes)- 131
I absolutely hate for their fans to be even a little bit right, but let's face it: Billy Clyde has built a pretty good team. - Save The Shield

- Pound for pound, simply the best team right now. They lean on Meeks heavily and it seems so far that he can handle the burden. - Bruce Ball Blog

2. (tie) LSU (1)- 111
It's tough to understand how they lost to Utah and Alabama and how they've followed that up with wins over South Carolina (by 17), Ole Miss (by 32), and Mississippi State (by 27). - Ghost of Chucky

- If there's any team capable of running off and hiding with the SEC West title, the Tigers would appear to be it. - Razorback Expats

2. (tie) Tennessee- 111
People think the Vols are suddenly ordinary because UK beat them at home.  They are mistaken. -  A Sea of Blue

The Vols bounced back with a convincing win at Vanderbilt from a loss to Jodie Me, I mean Kentucky, and a close call against South Carolina. - Garnet and Black Attack

4. Florida- 102
Well, the  Florida Gators are obviously beatable, as South Carolina made clear.  While Calathes is good, hitting your free throws to win is better. - Gate 21

- Tough loss at South Carolina. Lesson learned? Make the free throws kid. - UK Wildcat Country

5. South Carolina- 88
- The proverbial NIT dynasty had a thrilling win over Florida at the buzzer, but they are never the real deal. - Red Solo Cup

I had a feeling going into the year that the Gamecocks would be improved. The win against Florida is a signature win, of sorts. But the way they lost to LSU begs the question: Is LSU that good? - Ghost of Chucky

6. Mississippi State- 83
- Overrated. - UK Wildcat Country

The 3-0 start may have been smoke and mirrors. LSU exposed this team last time out. - Bruce Ball Blog

7. Vanderbilt- 61
Remember those great Vanderbilt shooters of the past? Hang on to that memory, because Shan Foster isn't walking through that door. Scott Draud isn't walking through that door. - Save The Shield

- Not showing a lot this year. Looks like a mid-pack performer to me. - A Sea of Blue

8. Auburn- 48
- Playing better than expected. Took Kentucky deep into the game last night. Can Jeff Lebo win a few games to save his job? - Garnet and Black Attack

Auburn has two winnable games coming up. Arkansas can be tough if they choose, but lately they haven't. Texas-Pan American, on the other hand has been mistaken as an airline. - Gate 21

9. Arkansas- 45
0-3 start in the SEC after being OU and UT? Strange. - Alabama Basketball Blog

- This team plays like 40 minutes of confusion. Are the wins over Texas and Oklahoma a projection of being overrated for those teams, or is the 0-3 SEC start mean the conference isn't that bad? - UK Wildcat Country

10. Alabama- 43
How does this team, completely healthy (don't even count Ronald Steele), allow a crippled Ole Miss team to be within a basket of winning at home? - Ghost of Chucky

- Got a win against Ole Miss last night, but Mark Gottfried is a dead man walking. - Garnet and Black Attack

11. Ole Miss- 24
- Does Andy Kennedy have some eligibility left? - Alabama Basketball Blog

At least his team can score, even if Coach Kennedy can't anymore. - UK Wildcat Country

12. Georgia- 13
- Getting beat up like Andy Kennedy at a cab driving convention. - Red Solo Cup

We hope the housing market improves by the time Dennis Felton has to sell his Athens house this spring. - Razorback Expats
