Week 5 SEC Hoops Poll

As a disclaimer for the week, our friends at the Georgia Sports Blog have a few words for SEC basketball fans: 

"The Georgia Sports Blog hasn't been able to participate in the Poll so far this year due to not fielding an SEC Basketball Team.  In the event that our status as a member of the league were to be re-instated with the hiring of a competent coach (or a traveling gypsy carnival maintenance man who believes in offense fundamentals), we will participate in future versions of the poll.

BTW -- Can I put Clemson in my SEC Power Poll?  They looked liked the greatest team in the history of basketball last night....partially due to Duke's reflected suck and viewed through my own tainted lens of having just watched my own team play earlier in the evening.

1. LSU- 105 (7 First Place Votes)

- Perhaps the one SEC team that strikes us as capable of making a deep NCAA Tournament run. - Razorback Expats

2. Florida- 96 (1)

- The best of a weak group. Not even in Pomeroy's Top 30! - Save the Shield

3. South Carolina- 88

- Even though they've been beaten by the Vols, they're the third best team in the SEC. When Devan Downey is on, he could change water into wine. - Red Solo Cup

4. Tennessee- 81 (1)

- I truly feel that if they start playing team basketball, they will be a Top 10 team. But until then, they will skate by. A W is a W. - Leftover Hot Dog

5. Mississippi State- 72

- Nice road win in Lexington. Kind of a schizophrenic team. - Save the Shield

6. Kentucky- 70

- Like I said, everyone got their man crush on after Meeks went for a thousand points against Tennessee. What has he, rather what have THEY done, since then? - The Ghost of Chucky

7. Ole Miss- 55

- If not for South Carolina's play, this would be the conference's surprise team. Most people thought they would wilt after the injury to Chris Warren, but they've come together nicely. - Garnet and Black Attack

8. Vanderbilt- 42

9. Alabama- 33

10. Auburn- 31

- Jekyll and Hyde. Unfortunately for Jeff Lebo, Mr. Hyde's been around too much recently. - The Ghost of Chucky

11. Arkansas- 23

12. Georgia- 9
